MEDIA INITIATIVES AND UNICEF IN A JOINT PROJECT
Media Initiatives in collaboration with UNICEF on April 1 launched activities aimed at building communication capacities of relevant state bodies, non-governmental organizations and media in the framework of the project “Enhancing the Social Protection and Inclusion System for Children in BiH”. During the campaign, public opinion research will be carried out, as well as monitoring of media contents that deal with child right issues and a number of workshops on strengthening communication capacities and news skills in covering this issue.
The project aims to strengthen multi-sectoral approaches to the protection and inclusion of children through an integrated system of planning, policy development, implementation and evaluation in order to raise awareness of this process among different audiences in BiH. Social inclusion is a process that ensures that those at risk of poverty and/or social marginalization gain the opportunities and resources necessary to participate in economic, social and cultural life and enjoy a standard of well-being that is considered normal in the society in which they live.
The project is implemented by UNICEF with support from the European Commission and in partnership with the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH, Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH, Directorate for Economic Planning, Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republika Srpska, Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of FBiH and Government of Brcko District. The donors also involved in the project are the Government of the United Kingdom – Department for International Development (DFID) and Government of Norway.
