In today's world, increasingly uniformed by globalization and united by economy, politics and communication, diversity holds an important place. United in diversity or diverse in unity is the motto that moves the world today and is one of the fundamental patterns in the grouping of countries from the Old Continent around a project called – European Union. Diversity dialogue, at different levels, is a current and important issue worldwide. Its local manifestations are also interesting, as well as the attitude of different subjects to it, especially the media, in Bosnia-Herzegovina and the region.
Dialogue between East and West, dialogue of different cultures, religions, nations and civilizations, is a very current theme in the world today. Many are working on it, each in their own way, focusing on different aspects of dialogue and the role and significance of diversity in today's world. The thing in common to the majority of those dealing with this theme is that through diversity and dialogue between them, globally and also locally, many problems are generated today. Some are solved thanks to the existence of developed dialogue, others appear due to lack of dialogue, some see in dialogue an opportunity to overcome problems, while others do not want to develop dialogue with others, preserving their values in isolation.
Diversities, interaction between them, as well as alienation between them, are today strongly generated by the media. The media are an unavoidable channel of communication, source of information, tool for getting to know the different, as well as a tool in the hands of different interest groups. We designed the project with the aim of researching the role of the media and their significance in development of inter-cultural, inter-religious and inter-civilization dialogue, examining problems from a local and regional perspective, offering new solutions for development of dialogue, and finally, underlining the role of media in this process – both media that act as global players, as well as local media that reflect and portray diversity in their micro-cosmos.
