STINA Agency (Split, Croatia), Media Plan Institute (Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina) and Novi Sad School of Journalism (Novi Sad, Serbia and Montenegro), which collaborated successfully before on many projects of “civil education through the media,” launched an educational and informative project called “ETHNIC MINORITIES – BRIDGES OF COOPERATION AND FACTOR OF STABILIZATION AMONG THE STATES OF THE FORMER YUGOSLAVIA,” primarily aimed at establishing and developing a media network for the promotion of the role of ethnic minorities and interethnic tolerance as a factor of cooperation and stability in countries in the region.
This is a six-month-long pilot project, including a bi-weekly electronic newsletter called “REGIONAL HERALD FOR PROMOTION OF CULTURE OF MINORITY RIGHTS AND INTERETHNIC TOLERANCE” (12 issues), which will develop different aspects related to the issues of minorities and interethnic tolerance. In addition, 12 joint radio programs will be broadcast on numerous radio stations in Bosnia-Herzegovina , Croatia and Serbia and Montenegro , which will speak about these issues in a comparative and complementary way.
The topic of the first issue that came out on July 30 was the relationship between ethnic minorities and the media. The second issue will speak about hate speech in politics, in the media and in everyday life and about its effects on interethnic relations.
The service will be posted on the three organizations' internet sites and you can ask to have it sent to you by email in BiH at udovicic.r@mediaplan.ba, in Croatia at stina@zamir.net and in Serbia and Montenegro at nonos@EUnet.yu . Service is available in b/h/s language, with summary in english.
